In Bantam is a literary journal run by students at the University of Mary Washington. Our journal showcases previously unpublished writing–fiction, nonfiction, and poetry–as well as visual art that appeals to the spirit of our publication.
The word bantam, by one definition, is a small offering; by another, it is something spirited. Consequently, we are looking for short, dynamic writing of no more than two double-spaced pages of prose and poems of no more than sixteen lines. Visual art should be engaging and express an understanding of our theme, but the images need not be small in a literal sense.
